welcome to our church

Our Church is our people

We are people who are committed to living a Christ-centered life, while focusing on spreading God’s love to those around us…our families, our communities and our brothers and sisters all over the world. There is a place for you and your family here. We are a thriving church community and we hope you will become part of it. There’s room for you here as God keeps growing us. We have two campuses but we are one family, one church.

When you pass by our main campus in New Providence, you’ll see cars in the parking lot and our lights are on everyday, anytime of the week…because church doesn’t just happen on Sundays. Our New Community campus was formed in 2012 to accommodate a growing group of people from the Westfield, Scotch Plains and Cranford areas, and it is adding new ministry opportunities every month.

We would love for you to stop by and see how you and your family can get plugged in!

New Providence

Our main campus, The Presbyterian Church at New Providence (PCNP), has been at the center of New Providence, New Jersey since 1737. The current colonial sanctuary was built in 1837, and a large addition and major renovations were completed in 2004. The addition includes the Ministry Center, which is used for contemporary worship services and many student programs.

Garwood

New Community Church (NCC) is a campus of The Presbyterian Church at New Providence that sets up and meets at The Westwood in Garwood every Sunday morning. We take over a banquet hall and transform it into a comfortable worship service, accompanied by a live band. Childrens programs, including Sunday School and childcare are offered as well.

Gracious Dismissal

WE ARE DISMISSED FROM THE PCUSA!

Dear PCNP/New Community Church Members and Friends:

I wanted to let you know right away that tonight the Presbytery of Elizabeth voted in our favor and we are dismissed from the PCUSA. The Liberty Corner Church was also dismissed.

With almost no debate or discussion our terms of dismissal were approved. It was almost anti-climactic. I think it went so smoothly because of all the hard work our Resolution Team did ahead of time to pave the way for the vote. I can’t thank them enough for the great work they did throughout this long process.

And I want to thank all of you for your commitment and encouragement in all this. I believe this experience has made us stronger as a church and will bring great blessing for our future.

Many thanks also to the Presbytery folks who also were part of our Resolution Team. Their commitment to fairness and integrity made the process work.

Our official date of dismissal will be July 15th so that there are no gaps in medical insurance coverage for the church staff.

But we are dismissed. One door has closed and another door has opened. I am excited to walk through that door to see all that God has in store for us.

Jeff Ebert
Senior Pastor
